The National Dining Rooms
Opt for grandeur and understated elegance with a visit
to The National Dining Rooms in the gallery’s Sainsbury Wing where, reflecting
the heritage of its regal location, afternoon tea is perennially British. On the
menu are delicious buttermilk scones served with clotted cream, preserves and a
selection of delicious cakes, sandwiches and savouries all from the restaurant’s
abundant in-house bakery, for £12 with tea or £18 with champagne.

I ate in the cafe with a friend and we had a good time. The food was simple
but well prepared, the staff friendly and the ambiance pleasant. It's nice
to get out of Soho and the same old hang-outs once in a while. My only
gripe is the fact that I wanted a table in the restaurant, but no one
answered the phone for me to book it. I heard that a restaurant is just
terrible! Still, the cafe turned out to be just the job!
